Hewlett-Packard unveils automated inspection system
The Hewlett-Packard BV3000 system, developed by HP Singapore Vision Operations, is aimed at reducing the manual inspection of printed-circuit boards. Specifically, the system inspects for misalignments, missing parts, and solder-joint defects, thereby providing rapid throughput, reliable fault coverage, reduced production costs, and improved time to market. Running under Windows 95, the BV3000 incorporates fiberoptic lighting, CCD cameras, and mathematical algorithms. The price of a one-camera configuration starts at $150,000.
