MARCH 11--PixeLINK (Ottawa, Canada; www.pixelink.com) has launched MarketONE, a camera-customization service for OEMs. The new service combines rapid custom-engineering services with innovative manufacturing and licensing arrangements to provide cost-effective and unique imaging products to OEMs in the scientific and industrial markets.

Says Joel Bisson, CEO of PixeLINK, "Our MarketONE service allows the customer to create a camera tailor-made to their application. PixeLINK has developed a mass customization process that allows the design and fabrication of these individual cameras effectively and efficiently. This efficiency enables individual customers to become markets, hence MarketONE."

By working with customers, PixeLINK can combine their camera engineering expertise with the customer's domain knowledge to create the perfect camera for their application. Concurrently, the company is building a large inventory of camera design knowledge that can be applied to new requirements, significantly shortening the design cycle and reducing the overall cost.

Customers interested in the MarketONE service can contact PixeLINK directly, through its Web site or via its sales channel. Once the customer's requirements have been captured, PixeLINK sales staff will respond within two business days with a quote for the costs of the engineering services and the cameras. Depending on the complexity of the custom engineering required, a new camera design can take from as little as a few weeks to several months.
