AUGUST 5--DALSA Corporation (Waterloo, ON, Canada; www.dalsa.com), an international high-performance semiconductor and electronics company, has received a contract from Imaging Dynamics Company Ltd. (IDC; www.imagingdynamics.com), a provider of digital radiography systems. Under the terms of the contract Dalsa will develop a custom CCD image sensor chip and provide volume production over a period of 30 months. Deliveries to IDC are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2005. The contract is valued at CDN $5.1 million.

The Dalsa image sensor chips will be the eyes of IDC's new Xaminer line of digital x-ray detectors, which use digital imaging technology to replace traditional film in general radiography imaging applications. The Xaminer line is specifically designed for large, cost-sensitive markets such as China, India, and Brazil that require the high patient throughput of digital radiography, with competitive levels of image quality and dose efficiency.
