DECEMBER 8--The Canadian company Pleora Technologies Inc. and Puchheim-based Stemmer Imaging GmbH have agreed to cooperate on Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) connectivity solutions for industrial vision systems. Pleora Technologies was first to market with GigE connectivity products for machine vision and surveillance/security applications and the first to announce GigE products ready to comply with the new standard. Stemmer Imaging will be the new distributor for Pleora´s full range of products.
Pleora´s flagship offering is the iPORT series of IP engines, which are also well suited to OEMs. These flexible engines can be used with both linescan and area-scan cameras using either the Camera Link or LVDS interface. Users can interconnect multiple cameras, multicast data from one camera to multiple PCs, or distribute image processing across multiple PCs.
In addition, machine-vision supplier Cognex and the Stemmer Imaging Group have signed a new sales partnership. The distribution contract was signed as of October 2005. This agreement became possible after Cognex acquired Stemmer's smart-camera partner, DVT, in Q2 of this year.
The contract allows Stemmer Imaging to distribute the complete range of intelligent cameras from DVT in Germany, Great Britain, and Switzerland. Additionally, the new contract means that the InSight, Checker, and the Barcode-Reader Data Man products from Cognex will also be available.
