Oct. 2, 2015
The AIA's first ever Canadian Machine Vision Conference in Canada, which takes place on October 7, will cover such topics as 3D vision, advances in camera technology, vision research, smart cameras and vision sensors, and machine vision interface standards.

On October 7, the AIA will host its first ever CanadianMachine Vision Conference at the National Research Council in downtown Ottawa, ON, Canada.

The conference will feature in-depth presentations on such topics as 3D vision, advances in camera technology, vision research, smart cameras and vision sensors, machine vision interface standards, and 'build vs. buy' for machine vision. Additionally, it will cover advances in machine learning, autofocus technology, and choosing the right inspection technique and technology.

The response for the AIA’s first machine vision event has been excellent, according to Alex Shikany, AIA Director of Market Analysis.

"It’s clear that many companies are interested to learn more about the machine vision technologies that are driving the market’s recent record performance," he said. "By hosting the event in conjunction with the National Research Council of Canada, the Canadian Machine Vision Conference will be a great opportunity for attendees to learn about the technologies, network with key players in the industry, and determine how to successfully apply vision and imaging to their unique projects."

Included at the event is an opportunity to tour the National Research Council’s (NRC) Imaging Laboratories, which will include walkthroughs of the NRC’s Canadian Photonics Fabrication Centre, Visualization Room, and Imaging Laboratory.

"The research side of machine vision will also be on display, with the NRC offering attendees the ability to tour their imaging laboratories and photonics fabrication center before the conference," said Shikany. "We’re looking forward to a great event!"

Engineering and manufacturing personnel, end users, and prospective users of machine vision technology will benefit from the informative presentations from companies such as Pleora Technologies, Lumenera, Sightline Innovation, Freescale, Teledyne DALSA, PixeLINK, Matrox Imaging, FRAMOS, Radix, and Vista Solutions Inc.

Certified Vision Professional (CVP) training will be available for basic level training and certification. The training, which will take place October 5-6, will include anumber of courses related to machine vision and image processing.
