Alysium has announced the release ofUSB 3.1 Type C connectors, which are designed for a minimum of 10,000 mating cycles with an optimized architecture for the bi-directional high-speed data transfer of 10 Gbps and power transmission of 100 Watts (20 V, 5 A). In addition to a performance increase over USB 3.0, USB 3.1 features a new hardware interface, the USB Type C connector, which offers two major advantages: It is reversible, meaning you can plug in the connector either way; and it fits to the host as well as the peripheral, so the cable can also be plugged in either way. The connectors are suitable for use in such applications as industrial cameras, automobiles, computers and peripherals.
