SCHOTT Advanced Optics, a branch of the international technology group SCHOTT, will showcase a new line of optical glasses while also raising money for Project Night Night, a San Francisco-based charity that benefits homeless children across the United States.

During its demonstration, SCHOTT will introduce 0.5 pressings, which enable high-end optic designs with the highest transmittance and most precise apochromatic color correction available, according to the company. SCHOTT will also showcase infrared materials, laser glasses, and ZERODUR glass-ceramic.

During the last day of the show, February 12, SCHOTT will match all donations of up to $5,000 for Project Night Night, and Christoph Fark, Executive Vice President of Advanced Optics, will present the final sum to Kendra Stitt Robins, the Founder and Executive Director of Project Night Night. The charity assembles nighttime comfort packages and delivers them to homeless children across the U.S. The packages are filled with such things as blankets, books, and stuffed animals, in an effort to help children in need receive a restful and comfortable night’s sleep. With the help of thousands of volunteers and donations, more than 25,000 homeless children receive Night Night packages each year.

"2015 is a special year for Photonics West, which kicks off the International Year of Light," said Thea Marcoux, Marketing Director at SCHOTT Advanced Optics. "In an effort to commemorate this landmark event, SCHOTT hopes to bring a small source of light to those who need it most. We take corporate responsibility seriously, and hold community engagement as a key pillar in that commitment. SCHOTT understands the importance of light, and through our partnership with Project Night Night, we hope to add a bit of brightness to a child’s life."
