AUGUST 12-- Airport authorities in Lyon, Marseille, Nice, and Toulouse, France, have ordered multiple InVision Technologies Inc. (Newark, CA; www.invision-tech.com) CTX 9000 DSi explosives-detection systems. Together, the systems are valued at approximately $11 million. This order calls for delivery of CTX equipment during the fourth quarter of this year. France is InVision's largest customer outside of the United States. InVision shipped its first CTX system to France in 1997.

"The systems in the current order will continue France's roll-out of CTX. We understand that France intends to provide high-end baggage security at all airports in response to the European Community Aviation Commission requirement for 100% screening by the end of 2002," said Sergio Magistri, InVision's president and chief executive officer. "France moved early into building integrated baggage-handling systems to improve throughput and passenger convenience in its airports. Our CTX 9000 DSi is uniquely suited to this use. We anticipate continuing demand for this model in the next few years as the United States and other countries adopt the in-line approach."
