AUGUST 5--Vision Systems Engineering Ltd. (Kenmore, WA; www.vseltd.com), a manufacturer of linescan cameras featuring USB 2.0 interfaces and machine-vision software for DSP-based cameras, has signed a contract to develop a USB 2.0 interface for CTEC Photonics LLC (Modesto, CA; www.ctecphotonics.com).

CTEC Photonics manufactures low-cost, cooled integrating, CCD cameras for the OEM market. The new USB 2.0 interface will transfer 1300 x 1024-pixel images at the rate of 30 frames/s. It will also extend the speed of the camera-to-PC connection to 480 Mbits/s, 40 times more than previous capabilities. This feature permits frame rates of up to 60 frames/s and real-time image transfers, and eliminates the need for a frame grabber.

The interface will be used on CTEC's 1.3-megapixel CCD Camera Model Number CT-1000M. This cooled integrating camera delivers 14 bits of resolution and 4 acquisition modes.
