NOVEMBER 20--BFi OPTiLAS (Evry, France; www.bfioptilas.avnet.com), a pan-European distributor in the imaging and detection market, has announced the release of the MicroPublisher 5-Mpixel digital camera system from Qimaging, a designer and manufacturer of high-performance CCD digital cameras for image analysis and documentation in scientific and industrial applications. The 5 million pixels on the CCD image sensor deliver an ultrahigh-resolution field of view, resulting in photographic-like-resolution quality images. The higher-resolution sensor eliminates the need for pixel-shifting or cosite sampling, making ease of use even greater. High-quality color images of bright-field, dark-field, and fluorescence work are produced using 30-bit color digitization. For more demanding low-light applications, the MicroPublisher 5.0 COOLED camera excels during long exposure times by minimizing thermal noise.

The MicroPublisher 5.0 is FireWire IEEE 1394 interfaced for simple single-wire connectivity from the camera to the computer. For more information contact Alex Schneider, e-mail: [email protected].
