NOVEMBER 11--PLDApplications (PLDA; Aix-en-Provence, France; www.plda.com) has announced the immediate availability of the PCI-X XSYS, the latest smart frame grabber of its XSYS range. The PCI-X XSYS is a reliable PCI-X frame grabber that supports base/medium/full CameraLink or LVDS IO path up to 133 MHz. It accepts image data from one to four area- or linescan cameras providing monochrome or RGB images. "Like other products of the XSYS family, the PCI-X XSYS offers flexibility, more processing power on the PC, and embedded image-processing features at a frame-grabber cost. But for the first time vision system designers can break the 1-Gbyte/s video data-transfer rate barrier," said Arnaud SCHLEICH, vice president of sales and marketing at PLDA.

The PCI-X XSYS is based on PLDA 64-bit, 133-MHz PCI-X proven expertise. The PCI-X XSYS master mode transfers video data at rates up to 1 Gbyte/s. Unlike most of other boards available today, this capacity permits continuous acquisition of high-speed and high-resolution images from very high-speed CMOS cameras. For example, the PCI-X XSYS can continuously grab 1280 x 1024-pixel images at 500 frame/s from the Basler 504k camera. The master mode can also transfer images data directly to other PCI agents such as hard disk storage, without using the host memory.
