SEPTEMBER 11--DisplaySearch (Austin, TX; www.displaysearch.com) has indicated that small/medium-display shipments increased in the mobile-phone, PDA, automotive-monitor, video-camera, and digital still camera markets driven by significant shifts in supplier rankings in Q2'02.

SEPTEMBER 11--DisplaySearch (Austin, TX; www.displaysearch.com) has indicated in its recently published Q3'02 Quarterly Small/Medium LCD Shipment and Forecast Report that small/medium-display shipments increased in the mobile-phone, PDA, automotive-monitor, video-camera, and digital still camera markets driven by significant shifts in supplier rankings in Q2'02. Display shipments in all small/medium markets rose by 20.3% Y/Y to 114.4 million units in Q2'02. Correspondingly, revenues increased by 15.1% Y/Y in Q2'02 to $1.4 billion

The PDA and digital still camera markets experienced the fastest Y/Y unit growth, at more than 40%, with display revenues up 46% for PDAs and 17% for digital still cameras. DisplaySearch forecasts that growth will continue through the remainder of the year, with total units up 22% and 8% Y/Y in Q3'02 and Q4'02, respectively. Revenues are expected to grow even faster in the remainder of the year, up 32% and 38% Y/Y in Q3'02 and Q4'02, respectively.

The anticipated growth is a function of the recovery in the mobile-phone market and a shift from monochrome to color displays.
