OCTOBER 29--Leaders of the 1394 Trade Association (TA; Dallas, TX) have said the pace of new consumer and computer products with the IEEE 1394/FireWire multimedia bus is accelerating, with almost 130 new announcements from mid-summer through late October. New products range from 12 new notebook PCs and 90 new desktop PCs to new digital video and still cameras and Samsung's new set-top box and an increasing number of storage systems. All new products incorporating FireWire, with either the FireWire or i.LINK logos, can now be found on the 1394 Trade Association's Web site: www.1394ta.org.

"This past summer was a productive period for 1394-equipped product designs and introductions," said James Snider, executive director of the 1394 Trade Association. "We see a gradual acceleration in design activity throughout the industry, particularly in PCs and storage products, which is very encouraging."

The 1394 Trade Association is a worldwide organization dedicated to the advancement and proliferation of the IEEE 1394 standard. The TA sponsors a rigorous compliance and interoperability program for all 1394-equipped products, along with developers' conferences and trade events. For more information visit its Web site.
