MAY 8--DALSA Corporation (Waterloo, Canada; vfm.dalsa.com) and Photonfocus AG (Lachen, Switzerland;www.photonfocus.com) have entered into a cooperative agreement for worldwide commercialization of LINLOG wide-dynamic-range CMOS image-sensor technology in cameras for industrial machine vision and other applications. LINLOG technology enables new machine-vision applications where high speeds, programmable region of interest, or very wide dynamic range are essential. Applications include welding, laser metrology, traffic monitoring, and other uses with wide-ranging illumination levels.
The companies will work together over the coming months to introduce camera products worldwide under DALSA's brand.
Photonfocus was founded in April 2001 as a spin-off from CSEM, the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology. Photonfocus designs CMOS sensors as well as CMOS cameras. It also offers custom and semi-custom design solutions. Its main target markets are machine vision, security and surveillance, and automotive.
DALSA designs, develops, manufactures, and markets high value semiconductors, digital imaging solution products, and wafer foundry services. DALSA's core competence is in specialized integrated-circuit design, electronics, and highly engineered semiconductor wafer processing. Products include image sensors, electronic digital cameras, and semiconductor wafers for use in MEMS, power semiconductors and mixed signal CMOS chips.
