MARCH 18--The Jenoptik subsidiary, JENOPTIK Laser, Optik, Systeme GmbH (www.jenoptik-los.com), is combining its Digital Imaging Division's activities at its Jena, Germany, site beginning April 1, 2003. This consolidation will more closely tie that important business area with Jena-based development and distribution resources. A unified competence center will then be completed in the immediate vicinity of Jenoptik's Jena headquarters. It will feature research and development, marketing, distribution, customer service, and the production of high-resolution camera systems for scientific and professional applications.

The marketing, distribution, and product-support activities for the eyelike and ProgRes digital camera families have previously been coordinated at the company's Eching site near Munich, Germany.

Henry Birner, managing director at JENOPTIK, says that "Through closer future interaction, product development, production capacity, and organizational structure will be optimized, and new synergies with other company product lines will be created."
