JANUARY 20--Common Vision Blox (CVB), an advanced machine-vision development toolkit for integrators and OEMs, is both hardware and platform independent, flexible, and easy to use for developing vision applications. CVB version 8.0 brings several improvements to industrial imaging.

i-Tuition is a newly developed graphical user interface that allows applications to be developed without the need for programming knowledge; ideal for rapid prototyping and deployment. It also improves productivity and is flexible for experienced programmers. CVB version 8 also supports all the latest compilers from Microsoft such as Visual Basic, Visual C, and C#, along with Borland software, such as Delphi and Builder.

It also supports both PCs and embedded smart cameras. Version 8 supports the JAI ThinkEye, an IP67 rated smart camera with Internet connectivity. Developers can now choose to deploy an application on either a PC or a smart cameras using the same code and tools.

Other enhancements include dot-ping support on data matrix barcode readings, a network driver for remote data acquisition, camera control, and support for most frame grabbers.CVB includes optimized drivers for cameras, image-acquisition boards, and lighting equipment from a variety of manufacturers, and more than 30 software tools are now available, enabling flexible, economic solutions to image-processing tasks.

Common Vision Blox supports standard and special cameras (high-resolution, high-speed, linescan cameras) from most manufacturers.
