AKAtech to acquire the process automation business unit of Fastcom Technology

JULY 15--AKAtech SA (www.akatech.ch) and Fastcom Technology SA (Lausanne, Switzerland; www.fastcom-technology.com ) have signed a letter of intent regarding the acquisition by AKAtech of Fastcom's process automation business, which focuses on CMOS smart cameras.

JULY 15--AKAtech SA (www.akatech.ch), a privately held company that specializes in industrial intelligent vision applications, and Fastcom Technology SA (Lausanne, Switzerland; www.fastcom-technology.com ), a smart-vision-product supplier, have signed a letter of intent regarding the acquisition by AKAtech of Fastcom's Process Automation business, which focuses on CMOS smart cameras.

"This acquisition will propel us into a leading position for machine-vision technology worldwide," said the management of AKAtech SA. "We are looking forward to enhance our product portfolio with the iMVS (intelligent machine vision system) product line, used by system integrators as well as OEMs in control manufacturing processes in many industries, such as postal, medical, pharmaceutical, metal, and packaging industries. With this move, we will also acquire an excellent team of engineers, R&D, sales, and marketing professionals. With respect to our business strategy, we intend to continue our expansion through organic growth and strategic partnerships. We also see the opportunity for AKAtech to penetrate new markets with innovative application-specific products, such as our recently introduced AKAmatrix, a fast and intelligent Data Matrix reader."
