MAY 13--InVision Technologies Inc. (Newark, NJ; www.invision-tech.com) reports that airport authorities in Madrid, Spain, and Palermo, Italy, have placed further orders for its CTX 9000 DSi explosives-detection systems (EDSs). The total value of these orders is approximately $14.5 million. The systems are scheduled for delivery during 2003.

These orders build on InVision's existing presence in Spain and Italy. The Spanish airports authority, Aeropuertos Espanoles y Navegacion Aerea, purchased the units for the Aeropuerto de Madrid --Barajas, which has used InVision CTX EDSs since 1998. This is the second order for the Palermo airport, GES.A.P. Societa di gestione dell'aeroporto di Palermo p.a., which placed its first order in April 2002.

InVision's EDS machines have helped to enable 100% screening of checked baggage in US airports and airport authorities throughout Europe.
