Sony lowers price of XC-ES series machine-vision video cameras
JUNE 14�Sony Electronics Broadcast and Professional Co. has lowered the cost of its XC-ES cameras--compact analog cameras tailored specifically for machine-vision, industrial, and microscopy applications. These cameras are housed in rugged, one-piece shells, which provide the high shock and vibration tolerance essential in industrial environments.
According to Jim Sandy, vice president, visual imaging products at Sony, "Offering the XC-ES at a lower price brings high-performance, compact, rugged camera modules to a much wider range of users. We firmly believe the XC-ES series will develop into the new standard for machine-vision applications."
The XC-ES50/50CE and XC-ES30/30CE camera modules incorporate 1/2-type and 1/3-type interline transfer CCD sensors based on Sony's Hyper HAD technology--allowing f1.4 at 0.3-lux sensitivity and virtually no smear. The cameras feature 768 x 494 effective pixels with a horizontal resolution of 570 TV lines and a 60-dB signal-to-noise ratio. XC-ES modules feature user-friendly external camera controls and a simplified flexible trigger. They are equipped with a C lens mount for maximum versatility. Required power supply is 12 Vdc.
The single unit suggested resale price for the XC-ES50 has changed from $717 to $592. A single XC-ES30 was $658 and is now $542.
