MARCH 6, 2008--SICK AG (Waldkirch/Wiesbaden, Germany; www.sickusa.com), a producer of sensors and sensor solutions for industrial applications, and VITRONIC Dr.-Ing. Stein Bildverarbeitungssysteme GmbH (Wiesbaden, Germany; www.vitronic.com), a producer of machine-vision systems for factory automation, logistics, and traffic technology, have signed a collaborative agreement to provide inspection systems for courier, express, and parcel service providers in the USA. Today several thousand optical vision cameras read barcodes, 2-D codes, and address labels, greatly increasing the productivity of customers in the USA.

Up to now, the two contractual partners have exclusively marketed the VITRONIC VICAMssi recognition camera to companies in the US market. Now the companies will offer both the new VICAMssi2 (VITRONIC) and ICR890 (SICK) cameras, providing customers greater opportunity for selecting the ideal solution. Within the framework of this contract, both VITRONIC and SICK customers can obtain services and purchase new equipment to expand existing systems or update to the latest technology.
