NOVEMBER 14, 2008--PI-MTE cameras, capable of up to 4-Mpixel resolution, now offer twice the speed with 2-MHz readout. They are designed for applications including coherent x-ray diffraction, imaging, soft x-ray microscopy, and x-ray holography and are used at synchrotrons. The compact PI-MTE camera measures 4.57 x 2.35 x 3.15 in. (116 x 60 x 80 mm) and weighs 2.5 lb. The complete system includes ST-133 controller, WinX software, and in-vacuum electrical and cooling interfaces to permit uninterrupted operation inside a vacuum chamber. USB 2.0 allows the camera to be interfaced with a laptop. It is also available with a fiberoptic communication kit for long-distance operation up to 1000 m. TTL signals from the ST-133 controller and LabVIEW drivers simplify integration with other instruments.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PI-MTE Cameras Now Twice as Fast with 2 MHz Readout
TRENTON, NJ, July 29, 2008 - Princeton Instruments announces the improvement of the popular PI-MTE cameras, now twice as fast, with 2 MHz readout. The well-respected PI-MTE line of high-performance cameras is capable of resolution up to 4 Megapixels and is part of Princeton Instruments' X-ray Group. These compact cameras are designed for the most demanding X-ray applications, including Coherent X-ray diffraction imaging, Soft X-ray microscopy and X-ray holography and are used at synchrotrons worldwide. The PI-MTE cameras offer world-renowned Princeton Instruments high sensitivity, low noise and high dynamic range performance.

The compact PI-MTE camera measures 4.57'" (116.0 mm) x 2.35" (60.0 mm) x 3.15" (80.0 mm) and weighs only 2.5 lbs. The complete system includes ST-133 controller, WinX software and in-vacuum electrical and cooling interfaces to permit uninterrupted operation inside a vacuum chamber, without compromising performance. The USB 2.0 interface offers several advantages, including operation of the camera with a laptop computer. It is also available with a fiber optic communication kit for long distance operation up to 1000 m. The TTL signals from ST-133 controller and LabVIEW drivers make the integration of the camera with other instruments effortless.

"Princeton Instruments is the only camera manufacturer to deliver thermoelectrically cooled in-vacuum scientific cameras," explains Manjul Shah, Princeton Instruments' X-ray Group Business Manager. "For example, one of the issues associated with the thermoelectrically cooled scientific in-vacuum camera is the extraction of immense heat generated by the CCD device, traditionally removed by built-in fan using forced air. The unique liquid cooling design of the PI-MTE camera eliminates this problem and cools the CCD to -40 C temperature and virtually eliminating dark charge generated by the CCD."

Princeton Instruments designs and manufactures high performance CCD, ICCD, EMCCD camera; spectrograph; and optics-based solutions for the scientific research, industrial imaging and OEM communities. We take pride in partnering with researchers and OEMs to solve their challenging problems utilizing our high-performance, flexible solutions.
