NOVEMBER 5, 2008--The Skia-Graph 8, based on the RadEye100 sensor, consists of eight sensors that are tiled in a 2 x 4 matrix for a total active sensing area of 8 x 8 in. (20 x 20 cm). Each RadEye100 consists of an array of 512 x 1024 photodiodes on 96-µm centers, providing a total panel resolution of 2048 x 2048 pixels. A Gd2O2S (Gadox) integrated direct-contact scintillator converts x-ray photons into visible light that is sensed by the CMOS photodiodes. Steel shielding protects camera electronics from the x-ray radiation, which is optimized for the standard 10-50-kV energy range. Specific applications include inspection of agricultural and food products, electronics and mechanical components, PCB and BGA inspection, beam profiling, contraband detection, and scanning packaged products for foreign objects.

PRESS RELEASE
Very Large Area (VLA) X-ray Sensitive Camera
Revolutionary RadEye100 Sensors are tiled together to create a 8" x 8" active sensing area with over 4 million pixels
Santa Clara, CA, August 29, 2008 - Rad-icon Imaging Corporation announces the Skia-Graph 8, its newest entry into the field of Very Large Area (VLA) CMOS image sensors and radiation sensitive cameras. Based on the revolutionary RadEye100 sensor, the SkiaGraph 8 consists of eight sensors that are tiled in a 2 x 4 matrix for a total active sensing area of 8" x 8" (20 x 20 cm). Each RadEye100 consists of an array of 512 by 1024 photodiodes on 96 µm centers making for a total panel resolution of 2048 by 2048 pixels. The SkiaGraph8 camera features low power consumption, excellent DQE, and the same flexible readout modes as its predecessors, the Shad-o-Box and Shad-o-Snap camera product lines.
The SkiaGraph 8 camera is capable of real-time imaging at up to 1.3 fps, 12 bit digital contrast resolution, 5 lp/mm spatial resolution and features a choice of scintillators providing impressive sensitivity as high as 250 ADU/mR. A Gd2O2S (Gadox) integrated direct-contact scintillator converts x-ray photons into visible light that is sensed by the CMOS photodiodes. Analog signals from the photodiode sensors are subsequently digitized in eight parallel A/D channels and then interleaved for maximum transmission across a high-speed parallel digital interface. According to Gene Weckler, Rad-icon's Founder and President, "the SkiaGraph 8, based on our revolutionary technology, can actually be operated at faster clock rates with lower noise and better sensitivity than competing devices."
Steel shielding protects the camera electronics from the x-ray radiation, which is optimized for the standard 10-50 kV energy range. The camera is an ideal choice for low to moderate energy applications including medical diagnostics, industrial inspection (NDT) and scientific imaging. Specific applications include inspection of agricultural and food products, electronics and mechanical components, PCB and BGA inspection, beam profiling, contraband detection, and scanning a variety of packaged products for foreign objects.
The single quantity price for the SkiaGraph 8 camera, including digital frame grabber interface and Rad-icons proprietary ShadoCam imaging software is $39,900. Current availability is stock to 8 weeks. Other sensor grades and scintillators are available as an option for special performance and energy range requirements. Contact the factory for pricing and availability.
