SEPTEMBER 30, 2008--trevista MOTION is designed for the inspection of surfaces of components and materials in linear motion. Depending on camera resolution, a speed up to 2 m/s can be achieved. A sector can be scanned to check parts or endless material for grooves, scratches, or other defects. The system is based on "shape from shading" technology, combined with evaluation software and a standardized lighting setup. trevista CYLINDER offers inspection of rotation-symmetric parts used in the automotive industry, such as control pistons or turning parts for fuel injection systems. Up to 60 parts/minute can be inspected automatically with linescan cameras.

PRESS RELEASE

Splendid inspection in motion -

is presented by OBE Ohnmacht & Baumgärtner GmbH & Co. KG (OBE) at this year's Vision fair in hall 6 - booth A 71. With trevista OBE provides products and solutions for industrial machine vision, especially designed for the inspection of shiny parts. trevista MOTION is shown for the first time at the Vision and is designed for the inspection of surfaces of components and endless material in linear motion.
Dependent on the resolution of the camera, a speed up to 2 meters per second can be achieved. With trevista MOTION a sector can be scanned to check parts or endless material for grooves, scratches or other defects. trevista is based on a patented "shape from shading" technology. Together with an evaluation software clear result images are provided using a standardised lighting setup, so scratches of only a few microns depth can be detected automatically.
With trevista CYLINDER it is also possible to inspect rotation-symmetric parts used in the automotive industry like control pistons or turning parts for fuel injection systems. Up to 60 parts per minute can be inspected automatically with line scan cameras. trevista combines the accuracy of a 3D method with the high speed of 2D inspection systems. Thus inspection costs can be reduced considerably due to the reliable determination of good and bad parts.

OBE GmbH & Co KG

The internationally active family company OBE GmbH & Co KG with its headquarters in Ispringen is today one of the world-wide leading large-scale manufacturers of precision mechanical metal parts. OBE has established itself as a key supplier for the optical industry since its founding in 1904 in particular due to its role in developing spectacle hinges. OBE was also able to expand into other areas in recent years as a result of innovative new technologies. Complex, small components can be inexpensively mass-produced using the metal injection moulding process. Since 2006 OBE also markets a novel image processing system - it is called trevista and was developed especially for the inspection of shiny surfaces. OBE GmbH & Co KG is managed by the Managing Directors Erik Schäfer and Ulrich Rümmelin. OBE has two subsidiaries in Italy and Hong Kong as well as further representations world-wide in addition to its headquarters in Ispringen in the Northern Black Forest. A joint venture with Globe Shenzhen, China also exists since 2004.
