DECEMBER 19, 2008--The 5-Mpixel monochrome model uEye UI-148xLE-M camera is available in either a CE-B certified plastic housing or as a board-level variant with or without lens adapter. Drivers are compatible across the entire uEye range. The monochrome camera has a 1/2-in. CMOS sensor with rolling shutter and 2560 x 1920-pixel resolution (QSXGA). Functions include binning, subsampling, global start shutter, and area of interest (AOI) mode, which allows up to 120 images/s to be captured. All three variants have a USB 2.0 port, and drivers are automatically loaded into the camera after it has been connected.

High resolution at a competitive price!
5 Megapixel Monochrome USB Camera...
...Now also as Board Level Version or with Housing
8953 pixels for one euro! With the 5 megapixel monochrome model uEye UI-148xLE-M, IDS has launched a high-resolution USB camera with a very attractive price-performance ratio. The new model is available in either a CE-B certified plastic housing or as a board level variant with or without lens adapter. Drivers are compatible across the entire uEye range.
The monochrome camera has a 1/2" CMOS sensor with rolling shutter and 2560 x 1920 pixels
resolution (QSXGA). Its light sensitivity and excellent level of detail meet the most exacting
requirements of development engineers. Various functions such as binning, subsampling, global start shutter and AOI provide added flexibility; Area of Interest (AOI) mode allows capturing up to 120 images per second.
The new model is available in different variants, which all sport a very compact design. The plastic housing version with CS-mount lens adapter is only 4.4 x 4.4 x 2.5 cm (W x H x D) in size and weighs a mere 32 g. The two board-level variants are even smaller - one with S-mount lens adapter and one without, have been designed for integration to minimum space and depth requirements.
All three variants have a USB 2.0 port and include IDS' state of the art software package.
The drivers are automatically loaded into the camera after it has been connected. In addition the software development kit (SDK) supplied with the camera is the same for all IDS camera models - whether they are USB or GigE based. This saves time and cost, particularly when switching to a different camera or upgrading to a high-end model.
Besides the drivers the SDK also includes demo programs for camera integration and image acquisition, which come complete with the corresponding source code in C, C++ and VB. For users of standard software a TWAIN driver and a DirectShow/WDM driver as well as an ActiveX component and direct interfaces for many current machine vision programs are also included.
The new monochrome camera complements the 5 megapixel colour model of the uEye LE series. This product line delivers high-quality camera technology at a very affordable price, from EUR 249 (plus VAT).
