Point Grey’s new Grasshopper3 GS3-U3-41S4 models, which are available in color or monochrome, feature a 4.1 MPixel global shutter CCD image sensor and are designed for scientific applications such as microscopy and ophthalmology. The Sony ICX808 is a 1/1.8” EXview HAD CCD II sensor with a 3.1 µm x 3.1 µm pixel size, a quantum efficiency of more than 72%, and achieves a frame rate of 18 fps. This new Grasshopper3 camera, like all other Point Grey USB 3.0 cameras, uses a proprietary USB 3.0 link layer and frame buffer-based architecture and features an image processing pipeline to enable look up table, gamma correction, pixel binning and USB3 Vision support. In addition to scientific imaging, the GS3-U3-41S4 models are suitable for use in industrial applications such as AOI and electronics inspection.
