IDS Imaging Development Systems has released two models of IP cameras with onboard video servers—the 5241VSE and the 5481VSE. The 5241VSE is a 1.3 MPixel camera with a 1/1.8" CMOS image sensor from e2v and the 5481VSE is a 5 MPixel camera with a CMOS image sensor from Aptina. Both models feature MJPEG and H.264 data compression, Power over Ethernet, and a "Remote view" function, which enables the cameras to monitor several processes simultaneously in one single browser window. In addition, the cameras feature 32 GB internal memory, day/night functionality, and an automated infrared band-elimination filter. The new IP cameras with onboard video servers from IDS are suitable for use in intelligent transportation systems, process monitoring, and logistics applications.
