More than 20 years ago, Bill had been working to develop an alternative to xenon strobe lamps. After presenting his work to a company in New Hampshire, he learned what they really needed was LED lighting. From there, Bill and his son founded Advanced illumination, becoming one of the first companies to develop LED lighting and supporting technology for the vision and imaging industry, according to a company representative, who offered the following testimonial:
"Under Bill's leadership, Advanced illumination was the first to create white light illuminators utilizing RGB LEDs as well as Evenlite technology to create consistent, uniform light. When asked, Bill attributed his success to focusing on customer needs and being a good problem-solver. His legacy will continue as Advanced illumination grows."
