XIMEA releases USB 3.0-compliant software with xIQ cameras

Sept. 6, 2012
xiCOP USB 3.0 diagnostic software is now offered with the xiQ series of cameras from XIMEA, featuring the USB 3.0 SuperSpeed interface.

xiCOP USB 3.0 diagnostic software is now offered with the xiQ series of cameras featuring the USB 3.0 SuperSpeed interface. Using this interface, xiQ industrial cameras achieve data transfer speeds up to 5 Gbits/sec with image transfers of up to 400 Mpixels/sec. The 26.4 x 26.4 x 19.1-mm cameras employ CMOS sensors with resolutions ranging from VGA to 4 Mpixels, global shutters, frame rates up to 600 frames/sec and improved quantum efficiency (QE) in the visible and near-infrared (NIR) spectral ranges. A high dynamic range (HDR) model offers advanced sensitivity with dynamic range up to 100 dB. The xiCOP software manages firmware and software upgrades for the cameras, enabling designers to optimize integration of hubs, controllers, and cameras, and it supports more than 30 common image-processing libraries.

XIMEA's xiCOP Arrests Bottlenecks in USB3.0 Industrial Camera Installations

xiCOP software program helps USB3.0 machine vision designers optimize system design and performance while managing firmware and software upgrades without having to reference online knowledge bases and support sites.

MUNSTER, GERMANY - To locate and remove data bottlenecks in machine vision systems that use the new USB3.0 SuperSpeed standard, XIMEA GmbH offers xiCOP USB3.0 diagnostic software with the xiQ series of ultracompact USB3.0 industrial cameras.

"xiCOP software will make it easier for automation professionals and machine vision integrators to design and field quality-control systems using the latest USB3.0-compatible machine vision hardware," explains Max Larin, CEO of XIMEA GmbH (Munich, Germany). "xiCOP can help designers simplify connections and optimize USB3.0 implementations, including hubs, controllers, and XIMEA cameras; firmware updates; and the latest USB3.0-compliant application programming interfaces for more than 30 of the most common image processing libraries.

xiCOP is a product of XIMEA's commitment to best-in-industry support for cutting-edge technologies like the USB3.0 SuperSpeed interface that give machine vision customers a competitive edge in today's hypercompetitive global marketplace."

Most machine vision system designers who purchase USB2.0 and USB3.0 cameras have to search the vendor's knowledge base to discover what hubs, cables, and controllers work best with a given camera. XIMEA simplifies this process by packaging the knowledge base into the xiCOP interactive optimization and diagnostic software program, saving integrators considerable time while saving end users money.

XIMEA's xiQ industrial cameras - the world's smallest and fastest USB3.0 cameras for industrial imaging and machine vision - are built to the new USB3.0 SuperSpeed data interface standard,
which delivers up to 5 Gbps of data and enables image transfers of up to 400 megapixels per second (Mpix/s). Despite its small size - measuring just 26.4 x 26.4 x 19.1 mm and weighing a mere 26 g - the xiQ series includes all the standard I/O and features demanded by industrial imaging customers. xiQ series cameras include a growing variety of high-grade CMOS sensors with resolutions ranging from VGA to 4 Mpix, global shutters, frame rates up to 600 fps, and improved quantum efficiency (QE) in the visible and NIR spectral ranges. A high dynamic range (HDR) model offers maximum sensitivity with a dynamic range of up to 100 dB.

In addition to the smallest size, highest resolution, and frame rates, the xiQ cameras offer OEMs single PCB construction instead of multiple flexible PCBs, making the xiQ easier to integrate into
specialized equipment and OEM designs.
