JULY 8, 2009--A new LED fiberoptic illuminator offers an alternative to halogen-based and metal-halide fiberoptic illuminators for medical and industrial lighting. The illuminator exceeds the brightness levels of 150-W halogen technology while using 50% less power. It uses a proprietary optical light engine designed to couple high-intensity white light into 3-10-mm fiberoptic bundles for applications including endoscopy, microscopy, and machine vision. In contrast to other light sources, the color temperature of the LED light does not change when the light is dimmed or increased.

PerkinElmer Introduces New LED Fiber Optic Illuminator at Lightfair 2009

Fifty Percent More Energy Efficient than Halogen Technology

New York, New York - Lightfair 2009 - Booth #3009 - Today at Lightfair International 2009 PerkinElmer, Inc., a global leader focused on improving the health and safety of people and the environment, announced the introduction of its new LED fiber optic illuminator that exceeds the brightness levels of 150-watt halogen technology while using fifty percent less power.

PerkinElmer's new LED fiber optic illuminator offers an energy efficient, maintenance-free alternative to halogen-based and metal-halide fiber optic illuminators and is the latest addition to the Company's range of capabilities for medical and industrial lighting. The LED illuminator uses a proprietary optical light engine designed to couple high intensity white light into 3-10 mm fiber optic bundles for applications including endoscopy, microscopy, and machine vision. Additionally, in contrast to other light sources, the color temperature of the LED light does not change when the light is dimmed or increased.
