Seventeen years ago,we reported that Microsoft Windows NT and Windows 95 OSs were bringing true 32-bit file-system support and pre-emptive multithreading and multitasking to PC programs, eliminating the 16-bit constraints of the underlying MS-DOS operating system on previous versions of Windows.
