AUGUST 24--The Lynkeus project, supported by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research, aims to expand PMD technology on an industrial level to spur it into a wider range of application areas and will involve the development of microsized integrated, intelligent PMD camera systems for robot systems, autonomous systems, and human-machine interaction. With the expansion of the frequency range of PMD technology up to the terahertz range, the technology could then be used for security and quality control.
PMDTechnologies (Siegen, Germany; www.PMDTec.com) has introduced a new version of its PMD[vision] 3k-S with a lens angle of 120°. To maintain an appropriate distribution of active illumination, the LED array units have been specifically adapted for the new lens. Applications are mostly short range, such as for position recognition.
The company will be exhibiting at Convergence, in the Combo Hall Exhibition Center in Detroit, MI, USA--a leading event in the field of electronic applications for automobiles and transportation. The conference has taken place every two years over the last 30 years. The newest PMD camera technology for automobile applications will be introduced.
