APRIL 6--A new Webcast, to be broadcast at 2:00 PM EDT-US (18:00 GMT) on April 25, 2006, by Vision Systems Design (Nashua, NH) will probe the challenges of GigE and show how it can be successfully deployed in new and existing applications.

APRIL 6--Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) cameras and networking capabilities are poised to open up new applications and value propositions for machine-vision system integrators. The combined features of high data rates, standard interface hardware and camera controls, and low-cost cabling make GigE cameras potentially a very attractive option. Yet questions surround the implementation of GigE in machine vision. A new Webcast, to be broadcast at 2:00 PM EDT-US (18:00 GMT) on April 25, 2006, by Vision Systems Design (Nashua, NH; will probe the challenges of GigE and show how it can be successfully deployed in new and existing applications.

Eric Carey, chair of the Automated Imaging Association (AIA) GigE Vision standard committee and manager of the smart products group at DALSA Coreco (*, will present the key issues associated with deploying GigE, including the critical issues of implementing the GigE Vision standard in hardware and software, how GigE Vision relates to the important emerging standard GenICam, and what the system integrator must do to implement machine-vision systems based on GigE Vision.

"In developing our Webcasts for Vision Systems Design," says Conard Holton, editor in chief, "we realize that our audience requires in-depth technical information and examples." In "GigE Cameras: Gift or Gimmick?" Eric Carey will provide just that--a penetrating look at the challenges, the benefits, and real-world opportunities that GigE Vision can bring.
