Camera supplierBasler AG (Ahrensburg, Germany) reports that the second quarter of 2010 proceeded better than expected for the company. According to preliminary figures, sales and pre-tax earnings were significantly above previous year's levels and beyond management board's expectations.
Group sales increased to €13.3 million, exceeding the 2Q09 level of €8.1 million by 64.3 %. Earnings before taxes (EBT) for the group were €1.7 million, up €6.6 million against the previous year's value of €-4.9 million. The EBT-margin for the second quarter was 12.8%.
Assuming continued market development, the management board has increased the company's guidance for the fiscal year 2010. The company reports that it expects group sales to grow to between €43 and €45 million (previous guidance: €39 to €41 million; 2009 sales: €33.7 million) at an EBT not less than €3.5 million (previous guidance: >€1.5 million; 2009 EBT: €-8.0 million).
