JANUARY 7--TATTILE Srl, a supplier of machine-vision systems in Europe, has announced the opening of its new US subsidiary in Bedford, NH (www.tattile.com). Tattile USA will provide sales, service, application engineering, and technology development for customers in the United States and North America.

To date, Tattile has focused its efforts on the European markets, where the company has doubled its revenues in each of the last five years and grown profitably to more than 130 employees. Tattile attributes its success to having the fastest and most advanced OEM-specific development capability of any machine-vision supplier in Europe, a capability which it now wants to bring to the US machine-vision market.

Tattile USA president Robert Fenwick-Smith stated, "We are looking forward to bringing our state-of-the-art technology, experience, and strong value proposition to the North American market place. Our existing product line and experience in Europe will allow us to hit the ground running."

Fenwick-Smith named Tim White as vice president of technology, John Merva as vice president of sales and operations, and Lilly Wahl as office manager. White and Merva, each with more than 20 years experience in different sectors of the machine-vision industry, have held senior positions in various machine-vision companies and are recipients of numerous US and international patents in the field.

Tattile's products include stand-alone smart cameras and image-processor products based on embedded microprocessor architecture. These designs provide high-speed image acquisition and processing while consuming as little as 7 W each, making them ideal for mobile or battery-powered applications. Tattile also provides a line of industrial cameras including black-and-white, color, high-resolution, linescan, and custom cameras in response to customer needs.

Tattile Srl, founded in 1988, designs, develops, and manufactures integrated industrial machine-vision and digital imaging products and related control systems. Markets for its products include the automatic visual inspection of packaging, textiles, automotive, pharmaceutical products, as well as security, transportation, and biomedical markets. All Tattile products operate stand-alone and have Ethernet connectivity built in.
