NEW PRODUCT PRESS RELEASE
Latest camera model on display at USCAP 2012, paired with Olympus' BX46 ergonomic microscope
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--USCAP 2012 - Lumenera Corporation, www.lumenera.com, a manufacturer and developer of high performance digital cameras and custom imaging solutions for scientific, industrial and surveillance markets, is pleased to announce the release of its second generation INFINITYHD 2 megapixel color microscopy camera, now featuring three on-camera buttons for effortless access to power, white balance and image capture.
After launching the first generation camera in November 2011, Lumenera quickly responded to partner requests for simplified performance. In less than 6 weeks, Lumenera's engineering team, specialists in digital imaging modifications and customizations, was able to make significant software, hardware and mechanical changes. The first notable enhancement is the addition of three conveniently located, on-camera buttons for power, white balance and image capture. The second modification is the elimination of computer software as well as a PC or laptop when white balancing and powering the camera on or off. These changes significantly improve work-through flow for clinicians performing routine microscope slide tasks, and provide pathologists with an enhanced, economical fast solution for image capture and image analysis.
The INFINITYHD high definition scientific imaging solution offers full 1080p60 preview with superb color reproduction and extremely fast frame rates. Engineered with a high resolution 1/3" CMOS sensor, this camera was devised to provide streaming video output over an HDMI connector, uniquely running autonomously without the need for a computer. Real-time live video preview enables accurate focus and specimen placement allowing for quicker slide reviews without any lag. Lumenera's INFINITYHD digital camera is fortified with an onboard auto-intensity compensation that automatically adjusts the video stream as the microscope objective or the light intensity regulates.
The INFINITYHD microscopy camera will be showcased at USCAP 2012, paired with Olympus' BX46 clinical microscope. The BX46 is recognized for its outstanding ergonomic design for screening and other routine laboratory work. Special features to support high-volume cytology and pathology workflows include: an adjustable binocular tube for optimum posture allowing long hours of observation in comfort; reduced eye fatigue through a light intensity manager that sets brightness settings according to the specific objective and eliminates manual adjustments; finger- touch operation for quick yet thorough screenings alleviating operator fatigue; and a low, fixed stage for ease in changing specimens. The full capabilities of the BX46 together with the INFINITYHD position this combination as a necessity for pathology and other routine laboratory work.
"We are very pleased to offer the Lumenera INFINITYHD camera to the pathology market. The INFINITYHD's fast live display and plug & play installation, paired with the Olympus ergonomic designed microscopes and superior optics, will allow tumor boards to view specimens in true high definition color." stated Peter Mabanglo, Product Manager, Core Products, Scientific Equipment Group, Olympus America Inc.
"When the first prototype was developed we heard partner feedback and moved to incorporate three on-camera buttons." said Shari Anne Bordeleau, Director of Channel Sales at Lumenera Corporation. "The rapid rate at which our engineering team was able to implement the enhancements is truly remarkable. In just shy of six weeks Lumenera introduced the INFINITYHD with the incorporated button for simplified performance."
The INFINITYHD will be on display at both the Lumenera (#711) and Olympus (#612) booths at USCAP in Vancouver, British Columbia from March 17-23, 2012.
