Pixid 100 R&D and Pixid 100 Pro systems perform camera module test and assembly in research and development and low-volume production applications. The R&D unit provides entry-level features such as active alignment, UV cure, and optical test with less automated functionality. The Pro system includes automated UV functionality to improve throughput and yield. Both systems use VxWorks with Windows 7 OS. Test algorithms allow for comprehensive functional testing of assembled cameras. Alignment algorithms are used to position the camera’s lens relative to the CMOS image sensor to produce optimal image quality across the entire imaging plane.

Pixid 100 R&D: Camera Module Active Alignment for R&D and Low Volume Production

The Pixid 100 R&D is used in low volume production and R&D applications. The Pixid 100 R&D is our entry-level system, providing the key features from our higher end production systems, such as active alignment, UV cure, and optical test, at a lower price point due to less automated functionality.

    Key Features
    - Automated Active Alignment: Sophisticated alignment algorithms are used to position the camera’s lens relative to the image sensor (CMOS) to produce the best possible image quality across the entire imaging plane. Feedback for the alignment algorithm is taken via acquired images of the image sensor to allow for positioning that is based on real-time in situ data.
    - Advanced Optical Test: Kasalis’ industry-leading test algorithms allow for comprehensive functional testing of assembled cameras, generating improved quality and yield.
    - Adaptive Intelligence: Real-time data is collected and analyzed, allowing for trending of process outputs for use in statistical process control (SPC). Based on collated process results, the system optimizes parameters to improve performance/yield and feeds back useful data to improve upstream and downstream processes.

The Pixid 100 R&D is available in these configurations:
    1) One Degree of Freedom (1 DOF): This configuration is suitable for traditional screw-in lenses that are aligned along the focus axis (Z) only.
    2) Five Degrees of Freedom (5 DOF): This configuration is suitable for cameras where the lens stack is bonded directly to the image sensor or image sensor housing. This configuration allows for automated centration (XY), tip-tilt (θx, θy) adjustment, and focus (Z) adjustment.
    3) Six Degrees of Freedom (6 DOF): This configuration is suitable for asymmetrical lenses and multi-channel cameras such as stereoscopic or array based cameras where the lens stack is bonded directly to the image sensor or image sensor housing. This configuration allows for automated centration (XY), tip-tilt (θx, θy) adjustment, rotational (θz) and focus (Z) adjustment.

    System Specifications
    System Footprint: 650mm x 850mm
Alignment Degrees of Freedom: 1, 5, or 6
    Linear (XYZ) Resolution: < 1μm
Angular (θx, θy, θz) Resolution: < 0.01deg
Camera Interface: Serial (SMIA, MIPI, HiSpi), Parallel, Analog (NTSC, PAL)
    Camera Communication: LIN, I2C, CAN
Operating System: VxWorks (Real Time OS) with Windows 7
    Embedded UV Safe Enclosure: Optional
Optional Optical Tests: Advanced Lens Tests, Advanced Sensor Tests, Advanced Camera Tests

Pixid 100 Pro: Camera Module Active Alignment for R&D and Low Volume Production

The Pixid 100 Pro has been designed to accomodate customers who need camera assembly systems for low volume production or R&D applications. The Pixid 100 Pro is similar to our Pixid 100 R&D system, but augmented to include automated UV functionality to improve throughput and yield. The Pixid 100 Pro provides the key features from our higher end production systems, but at a lower price, due to less automated functionality.

The Pixid 100 Pro is available in these configurations:
