MARCH 9, 2009--Two new GigE Vision-compliant camera, the Genie C1600 and Genie M1600, feature a new 2-Mpixel, high-resolution sensor appropriate for industrial imaging applications in the semiconductor, robotics, and traffic control industries. The cameras use Gigabit Ethernet technology to transmit data over standard Cat 5e and Cat 6 cables to distances up to 100 m. The Genie 1600 features a 1/1.8-in. CCD sensor (8.923 mm diagonal; Sony ICX274) and is available in color (C1600) and monochrome (M1600) versions running at 15 frames/s. Additional features include global electronic shutter with exposure control, on-board flat-field correction, and on-board color conversion (used by the C1600). The GigE Vision camera acts as a single machine vision component, integrating both advanced camera and board image acquisition technologies in one package. The camera features an RJ-45 ruggedized screw-mount cable connector, suitable for robotic applications. The Genie 1600 cameras are supported by Sapera Essential software and the Genie Framework package, which employs Trigger-to-Image Reliability engineering to accelerate application development and deployment time by providing developers with a 360-degree view of the entire acquisition process.

High Quality Image Capture in ITS

GigE Vision

These new Genie cameras take full advantage of Gigabit Ethernet technology, transmitting data over standard CAT-5e and CAT-6 cables to distances of up to 100m allowing for a greater distance between the camera and inspection system. DALSA continues to lead the deployment of the GigE Vision standard in terms of adopting the technology into their product development efforts.

The Genie C1600 and M1600 cameras are supported by DALSA's Sapera Essential software and its Genie Framework package for fast and simple camera set-up -- from initial set-up to grabbing images in minutes.
