JANUARY 14, 2009--Caminax is a smart camera system that comes with its own graphical interface. Configuration is accomplished by connecting a keypad and a standard VGA video display; no notebook PC is needed to define the inspection task. CCD sensor resolutions are between 640 x 480 and 1024 x 768 pixels. Image acquisition times are available from 10-52 Hz with a processor that runs at up to 8000 MIPS. The system has a C-mount lens adapter and is able to use telecentric measurement lenses. New subpixel algorithms compensate CCD sensor resolution differences in 0° and 45°. Tolerances and results are configured in units such as µm, mm, m, inch and mil. The pixel unit is still available as preferred.

Caminax: Smart Vision - Easier than ever
Smart camera systems are widely used in industry due to their small dimensions and low operational costs.
Caminax is a Smart Camera system that comes with an own graphical interface. The inspection task is configured simply and intuitively with the well thought-out user guidance. This is done just by connecting a keypad and a standard VGA video display to Caminax. No notebook PC is needed to define the inspection task for Caminax.
Caminax is the perfect measurement tool. Caminax has a C-mount lens adapter and is able to use telecentric measurement lenses. These lenses build the fundament for professional measurement applications. The Caminax software features new subpixel algorithms which compensate CCD sensor resolution differences in 0° and 45°. Thus, any probe angle is available and precise with Caminax. Tolerances and results are configured in units which are directly useful for the customers since Caminax features a calibration module which supports all widely spread units as µm, mm, m, inch and mil. The pixel unit is still available for those who prefer this. The availability of high quality lenses, the excellent algorithms and the calibration feature turn Caminax to a precise measurement tool for lengths, distances and diameters.
Caminax finds part to be inspected in a compound product using the tracking feature and the support of special geometries for regions of interest (ROIs). Ellipsoids, rings, arcs and rectangles are possible in any angle.
The online editing of Caminax enables to modify all settings while inspection still goes on. The effects of changes are seen at once. The good/bad inspection result is signalled using up to four digital outputs. The logic unit is used to define different output states depending on the inspection results. The product dimensions are transferred by Ethernet.
Caminax comes with CCD sensor resolutions between 640 x 480 pixels and 1024 x 768 Pixels. Different image acquisition times are available from 10 Hz to 52 Hz. The Texas Instruments processor comes with up to 8000 MIPS which challenges modern PC processors.
About FiberVision
FiberVision GmbH was founded in 1995 as a spin-off of RWTH Aachen University. First products were fiber optical sensors and vision systems for color measurements.
Today, the engineers and scientists from FiberVision develop and build optical measurement, positioning and inspection systems for industrial use. The essential feature of FiberVision systems and products is: The easy access to complex technologies by providing user interfaces for intuitive use.
To mention a few FiberVision products:
Caminax: A smart camera which integrates a complete machine vision system into an extremely compact housing.
LED-Check: A vision system for color control of light emitting diodes.
3D-Check: An inspection system for the glue application in the automotive industry.
FiberVision has well-known customers such as: Continental, Ford, Hella, Paul Hartmann, Philips and Saint-Gobain Sekurit.
