FEBRUARY 9, 2009--The iVu seriesTG image sensor combines properties of a photoelectric sensor and a vision sensor. It uses a 2.7-in. LCD touch-screen with an intuitive interface and features inspection parameters that are configurable on the factory floor, without a PC. A software emulator allows offline programming and loading of parameters using a USB drive. Integrated or external lighting (red, blue, green or infrared options) is available. Other features include a 752 x 480 CMOS imager, adjustable focus lenses, and onboard help functions. Applications may include label inspection, vial cap inspection, packaging verification, electronic marking verification, and others.

Minneapolis, MN -- January 8, 2009 -- Banner Engineering Corp. introduces the iVu seriesTG Image Sensor, combining the simplicity of a photoelectric sensor and the intelligence of a vision sensor to deliver powerful and affordable inspection capabilities. The iVu is the first product of its kind, featuring a touch screen with an intuitive interface and easily configurable inspection parameters. This allows even first-time users to quickly and conveniently apply and support inspections right on the factory floor, without the use of a PC.

The iVu offers three advanced sensor types in one compact, rugged package, making it possible to solve a wide variety of complex applications with one sensor. Typical applications include:
a.. Label inspection
b.. Part presence and orientation
c.. Date/lot code inspection
d.. Vial cap inspection
e.. Injection molding verification
f.. Packaging verification
g.. Drilled hole inspection
h.. Blister pack inspection
i.. Weld nut presence and orientation
j.. Feeder bowl inspection
k.. End-of-mail indication
l.. Electronic marking verification

"The iVu Image Sensor solves high-speed, complex inspection applications with ease," said Dan Holste, Director of Vision at Banner Engineering. "In the past, these types of applications have required vision systems with extensive sensor configuration using software and a PC." Holste adds, "Using the iVu Image Sensor's integrated touch screen display, an operator can utilize the intuitive functions displayed on the touch screen to quickly and easily establish inspection parameters. The inspection can be configured, initiated and maintained without the use of a PC or other external equipment."

The features of the iVu seriesTG Image Sensor make it particularly useful in a variety of complex applications:
a.. Integrated or external lighting (red, blue, green or infrared options)
b.. 68.5 mm (2.7") LCD touch screen display
c.. Software emulator to program the iVu offline and load parameters using a USB drive
d.. 752 x 480 CMOS imager
e.. Remote TEACH
f.. Onboard help functions
g.. Adjustable focus lenses
h.. Onboard USB port for upload/download to USB drive
i.. Inspection/system logging for rapid analysis
