PRESS RELEASE

JAI (Copenhagen, Denmark) has announced the release of the AD-080GE with GigE Vision interface. The AD-080GE is an innovative yet very competitively priced 2-CCD camera capable of simultaneously imaging visible and near-infrared light spectrums through a single lens.

Multi-spectral imaging provides important benefits in many machine vision applications, but traditional two-camera solutions have remained costly and difficult to deploy. These obstacles have been rolled aside with the launch of the AD-080GE single-lens 2-CCD camera, providing simultaneous perfectly-aligned images of both visible and near-infrared (NIR) light spectrums.

The AD-080GE features a unique 2-CCD design incorporating two 1/3” progressive scan sensors (1024 x 768 resolutions) mounted to a custom-designed optical prism. The camera runs at a frame rate of 30 frames/second in continuous operation.

The technology behind the AD-080GE is a unique manufacturing process developed by JAI, enabling high-precision bonding of image sensors onto the customized prism optics. This delivers an industrial grade - yet highly cost-efficient - 2-CCD solution, which allows JAI to offer the AD-080GE camera at a very competitive price.

The AD-080GE is designed for a variety of applications where extended spectral imaging is required. An example is fruit and vegetable inspection, where the visible spectrum inspects surface colorization while the NIR channel inspects below the surface of the object revealing possible imperfections, such as bruising, decay etc.

Other important applications include the inspection of blister packs or other plastic film containers, where the visible channel allows inspection of the print on the surface and the NIR channel allows inspection of the contents. Furthermore, the AD-080GE is excellent for traffic applications, print inspection of banknotes, passports and tickets, electronic board inspection, and surface inspection of textiles.

Each channel has separate gain and exposure control to be able to optimize the signal-to-noise ratio at all times. The camera is equipped with two GigE outputs enabling the user to choose between single-cable operation or separate cables for each channel.

Other features include partial scanning and vertical binning capabilities, as well as analog video output to support auto-iris lenses.
For the best imaging results, the camera features standard C-mount lenses, giving a higher degree of lens flexibility and further reducing production costs.
