KEYENCE recently introduced a new 3D snapshot laser sensor series, the LJ-S8000 series. Featuring built-in motor-driven scanning detection capability, built-in laser light source, and high-resolution CMOS, the sensor is intended to eliminate the need for external lighting, lensing, moving stage, or encoder. In addition, tools for measuring height, flatness, position, width, area, volume, angle, and GD&T measurements are available. It is available in a range of sensor head sizes to allow up to 640mm FOV.

The LJ-S8000 sensor is designed to perform machine vision tasks such as automated 3D inspection applications with one device, at imaging speeds as little as .2 seconds and repeatability of 0.3 µm.
