Balluff presents innovative 25GigE camera family BVS CA-GW – fanless, energy-efficient, and ultra-fast
Neuhausen a. d. F. – February 2026 – Balluff, a leading provider of industrial automation solutions, is expanding its industrial camera portfolio with the new BVS CA-GW camera family, designed for applications requiring high-resolution images and high frame rates. These cameras with 25GigE technology set new standards in fast image processing and are available now.
The cameras feature a compact design with a front area of only 40 × 40 mm and are ideally suited for use in space‑constrained machines and systems. With frame rates exceeding 100 frames per second at resolutions of up to 24.6 megapixels, they enable highly precise and fast image analysis – even in complex industrial applications – while maintaining a maximum power consumption of just 12 watts.
The 25GigE camera can optionally be cooled using a cooling plate. This solution includes a compressed‑air connection that allows heat to be directed away from the camera in a controlled manner. Compared to fan‑based concepts, this approach offers numerous advantages, particularly with regard to long‑term durability, reduced failure rates, and suitability for use in cleanroom environments.
Another key technological highlight of the camera is the integration of RDMA technology (Remote Direct Memory Access), which enables direct data transfer into the host system’s memory without placing a load on the host CPU. This is enabled by the RoCEv2 protocol, which is part of the new GigE Vision 3.0 standard. Camera data transmission is carried out via fiber‑optic cables using SFP28 transceivers; alternatively, transceivers for copper cabling can be used. However, due to technical limitations, this option supports a maximum data rate of 10GigE.
At the start of series production, nearly 20 different sensor variants are available, including Sony Pregius sensors in monochrome and color versions with resolutions ranging from 5.1 to 24.6 megapixels. The portfolio is complemented by UV‑sensors.
The BVS CA‑GW camera family offers multiple configurations for digital inputs and outputs. In addition to one output and one input, with the input software‑selectable for 5 or 24 VDC signals (TTL or PLC), the cameras provide two GPIOs (general purpose input/output) as well as an RS-232 interface.
Thanks to the digital interfaces and modular design, the camera family meets a wide range of customer requirements already in its standard configuration. In addition, the camera provides an ideal platform for customer‑specific adaptations such as the integration of special filters, housing modifications, application‑optimized firmware versions, and production under cleanroom conditions.
With the new BVS CA‑GW series, Balluff reinforces its innovative strength in industrial machine vision and offers a future‑oriented solution for demanding applications in the automotive industry, machinery and equipment manufacturing, packaging technology, and beyond.
