RIPS Rotor Ice Protection System

Nov. 3, 2015
The Rotor Ice Protection System (RIPS) is an electrothermal deicing device for the main rotor blades and anti-icing device for the tail rotor blades. It extends operational capacity in mixed or unpredictable weather without risking safety, mission or equipment. The system continually self-tests and monitors, and when icing conditions are detected, it automatically delivers controlled deicing power to thermal blankets on helicopter rotors and sequences power between heating elements.
