Range Rover’s 2017 SVAutobiography Dynamic SUV will feature a suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) technologies for operations such as parking, cruise control and speed limiter, and lane departure warning.
Another standard feature that will be included in the new model is autonomous emergency braking, which uses a forward-facing camera to detect a risk of collision and warning the driver initiating full emergency braking if a driver fails to respond.
The additional ‘Drive Pack’ includes existing features such as blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, and reverse traffic detection. It will also include new technology include the intelligent speed limiter, which uses the traffic sign recognition hardware to automatically adjust the vehicle speed to meet the prevailing speed limit. Additionally, it includes a driver condition monitor, which analyzes data such as steering inputs and road speed, as well as taking account of the time of day, to warn against driver fatigue.
‘Drive Pro Pack’ takes the features of the Drive Pack and adds in things like adaptive cruise control with queue assist, intelligent emergency braking, and blind spot assist, which automatically applies counter steering measures if a driver begins to change lanes into the path of a following vehicle. It also includes lane keep assist, which provides corrective steering input if it detects a vehicle drifting across lane markers.
Lastly, the SUV will come with an advanced tow assist feature which will help drivers reverse while towing a trailer. Using the SUV’s existing surround camera system, the technology enables drivers to guide a trailer into the correct position more easily. Drivers follow trajectory lines overlaid on an image from the rear-facing camera displayed on the central touchscreen. This feature can also automatically steer the vehicle to follow the path selected by the driver using the dash-mounted rotary terrain response selector.
