The industry is changing. Talk to anyone at a trade show about current and future trends in the vision industry and it will be abundantly clear that "machine vision" has moved beyond just the factory floor, and into a whole new set of applications and markets.
In light of this, Vision Systems Design recently identified a number of key focus areas, in terms of our coverage going forward. After having successfully deployed our new Embedded Vision topic center on the website last year, we are happy to announce the creation of a new “Unmanned” section of the website, which will feature both our existing coverage and future AUVSI content on topics that include unmanned aerial vehicles / unmanned aerial systems (or drones), self-driving cars, advanced driver assistance systems, underwater autonomous vehicles, and other robots that incorporates vision, including household robots, military robots, and more.
To further our commitment to this expanded area of coverage, we will be collaborating with the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI; Arlington, VA, USA;www.auvsi.org), the world’s largest nonprofit organization devoted exclusively to advancing the unmanned systems and robotics community.
Each week, we will publish an article written by AUVSI experts that highlights the latest news, products, technology, and events in unmanned systems that professionals in the vision industry will find most interesting and applicable. In addition to this, Vision Systems Design and AUVSI will partner on additional content and products in order to provide as much benefit to the readers from both sides as possible.
"Vision Systems Design has announced a new focus area on our website dedicated to unmanned systems and robotics that provides a valuable resource for our global audience," said Alan Bergstein, Group Publisher for Vision Systems Design. "In order to adapt and to stay afloat in this expanding industry, machine vision vendors and systems integrators must stay up to date with the latest trends, technologies, applications, and markets, and this helps them do just that."
"Education is at the heart of AUVSI’s strategic priorities," said Brian Wynne, President and CEO of AUVSI. "Our partnership with Vision Systems Design will enable AUVSI to reach vision industry professionals with news and information about unmanned systems and robotics that will inspire them to develop innovative applications that will shape the future of business and society."
Keep an eye out for the first AUVSI article on Vision Systems Design, along with the launch of the unmanned topic center.
