Sony CMOS image sensor for automotive cameras features LED flicker mitigation function

Equipped with an LED flicker mitigation function that reduces flickering when shooting LED signs and traffic signals, as well as and HDR function capable of 120 dB wide dynamic range shooting, the Sony IMX390CQV CMOS image sensor is designed for use in automotive cameras.

Equipped with an LED flicker mitigation function that reduces flickering when shooting LED signs and traffic signals, as well as and HDR function capable of 120 dB wide dynamic range shooting, theSonyIMX390CQV CMOS image sensor is designed for use in automotive cameras. The sensor is a 2.45 MPixel sensor with a 3 µm pixel size that reaches speeds of up to 60 fps. The IMX390CQV, according to Sony, is the first in the industry that can simultaneously mitigate LED flicker and shoot in HDR, a capability made possible by Sony’s original pixel structure and exposure method. Additionally, the sensor can also produce high-quality color images even in light conditions as low as 0.1 lux, which is equivalent to moonlight, according to Sony. The new CMOS image sensor is designed for use in forward-sensing cameras for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and cameras for camera monitoring systems.
