A new series of Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link (GMSL) embedded cameras from e-con Systems called NileCAM cameras can be placed up to 15 meters away from a host processor and still support low latency and high frame rates, according to the company. The cameras are available in two models, the first of which is the NileCAM30_USB, which is a four-board embedded imaging solution containing a camera module, GMSL serializer, deserializer, and USB 3.1 Gen 1. base board. The camera is based on the AR0330 image sensor from ON Semiconductor, which is a 3.4 MPixel CMOS sensor with a 2.2 µm pixel size that can stream uncompressed Full HD (1080p) at 45 fps.
NileCAM30_TX2, the second model, is the same camera expect that instead of the USB 3.1 interface, it features a 4-lane MIPI CSI-2 interface to connect toan NVIDIA Jetson TX1/TX2 development kit. Both cameras feature an on-board image signal processor (ISP) chip that performs auto functions and ISP functions, as well as an S-Mount lens holder to support a wide range of lenses.
