Automate Program at a Glance
Scheduled to take place June 6-9, the Automate 2022 Show and Conference features keynote speakers, educational sessions, opportunities for students, exhibitor booths, and networking events.
The Association for Advancing Automation (A3), which produces the show, says it expects more than 20,000 people to attend the in-person event this year in Detroit, MI, USA. Attendees will have a plethora of activities to choose from, and Vision Systems Design has summarized those opportunities here.
Keynotes
Four keynote speakers will headline Automate in 2022:
- Daymond John—founder and CEO of FUBC, presidential ambassador for global entrepreneurship, star of ABC's Shark Tank, and CEO of The Shark Group—will share his goal setting and achievement strategies for both business and life.
- Douglas Stanguini—executive director of vehicle systems global manufacturing engineering at General Motors—will talk about how the engineering organization he manages is the link between design and manufacturing solutions.
- Mark Raibert—founder and chairperson of Boston Dynamics—will discuss the robots that the company is developing.
- Rachele Focardi—expert in generational diversity, multigenerational workforce effectiveness, and employer branding—will share research results and her insights about the future of work.
In addition, a keynote panel of representatives from AWS, Accenture, NVIDIA, General Motors, and Intel will discuss how artificial intelligence is powering manufacturing.

To help students throughout Michigan and nearby states learn about career opportunities in robotics and automation, conference organizers plan to invite them to visit the show floor and listen to a presentation on choosing a career in automation.
Show Floor
Automate’s organizers expect more than 500 companies to staff booths at the show, featuring products in such categories as automation systems; industrial robots and systems; artificial intelligence solutions and software; vision and imaging systems; motion control products; collaborative and mobile robots; and optics, lasers and lighting.
The show floor also will include a theater with speakers appearing throughout the week. Vision Systems Design Editor-in-Chief Chris Mc Loone will speak first on Monday, June 6. He’ll announce the Vision Systems Design Innovators Awards honorees.
Networking
Automate attendees will be able to participate in three evening events: an outdoor street party featuring local food, drinks and music; a networking party for attendees and exhibitors; and the Joseph F. Engelberger Awards Dinner and Ceremony.
