DALSA reports 236% growth in year-over-year earnings in third-quarter 2002

NOVEMBER 6--DALSA Corporation (Waterloo, Ontario, Canada) has reported its third-quarter financial results for the period ended September 30, 2002. For the second consecutive quarter the company has reported its strongest earnings results to date. All major units within DALSA, including the recently integrated semiconductor wafer foundry and professional imaging groups, returned positive operating results and contributed to the continued success of the company in the third quarter.

The company reported net income for the current quarter at $3.7 million with an EPS of $0.26, compared to net income of $1.1 million with an EPS of $0.09 in the third quarter of last year, representing an improvement of $2.6 million or 236%, year over year. Compared to the company's second-quarter 2002 results of $3.4 million ($0.25 EPS), an improvement of $0.3 million or 9% was realized. Net income for the nine months ended September 30, 2002, and 2001 was $8.1 million and $2.8 million, respectively.
