JANUARY 28--DuPont Displays (Wilmington, DE;www.dupont.com/displays) has created the Display Solutions business unit to deliver technologies for improving flat-panel performance in demanding applications. The new business unit combines two DuPont businesses that serve display integrators and OEMs today: DuPont Holographics, a producer of holographic reflector enhancements, and Polar Vision, a provider of optically enhanced high-performance displays. Peter Compo has been appointed president of the newly formed business unit.
Focused on light management, sunlight readability, and ruggedization for extreme environmental conditions, Display Solutions offers products ranging from holographic reflectors, bonded-glass enhancements, and high-brightness backlight systems up to fully integrated display modules. Specific benefits include improved viewability, impact resistance, viewing angle control, thermal management, EMI/RFI shielding, and contrast enhancement.
DuPont Displays is focused on the global flat-panel-display market. Based on its core competencies in polymer science and optical elements, the business is building capability to design and manufacture display subsystems that will meet the performance and cost demands of the information-technology industry. DuPont Displays is investing in technology and strategic alliances to build a broad base of intellectual property and manufacturing expertise to help advance the quality of displays.
